Riveted trim tab

Dropped by Ace on the way home and bought some 1/8" rivets to rivet the trim tab together.

Finished that and decided to cut the hole in the gussett at the tail to feed the trim tab cable through.

I clamped the trim tab assembly to the tail to position the cable. I bent a hook in the wire on the trim tab cable and realized the clamps weren't going to hold to work the cable. I'll need to bolt the trim tab assembly to the tail before I can finish connecting the trim tab cable.

Also realized that I need to replace the leaf spring. I already thought this but putting on the trim tab confirmed this. The trim tab rubs on the wheel and the wheel pushed the trim tab up a bit.

One last thing, I discovered I was using the rivet tool wrong. I would pump the lever once and if the spacing was just right this worked. but the piece of metal sticking out remained. I need to pump it until it snaps off. Just so my future self will know.
